Jackson County officials reported Sunday that a Hallettsville man had drowned in Lake Texana east of Edna on Saturday evening while out on a pontoon boat with two friends. Jackson County Sheriff Kelly Janica said Donnie Hart Jr.

This week's rains were a welcome sight for many in Lavaca County, who hadn't seen a measureable rain of any substance for much of 2022. Much of what fell, unfortunately, came sudden and hard with extremely high winds and fierce lightning. If at all, in some places.

The Maxwell community is mourning the loss of Assistant Fire Chief Jonathon Coco, 25, and his brother, Firefighter Hunter Coco, 21, after the two lost their lives last week in a rollover crash just outside of Lockhart.

A group of concerned citizens focused on keeping the memory of missing Texas State student Jason Landry from fading rented a booth at the 69th annual Luling Watermelon Thump last weekend in hopes of raising awareness about his disappearance.

The 2022 Moulton Royalty pageant is right around the corner, and members of the Moulton Chamber of Commerce are actively recruiting for this year’s slate of candidates. The lone requirement of each contestant is that they reside within the bounds of the local school district.

June recipients of the Moulton High School Katz and Kittens Award of Excellence were sophomore Stefanie Colchado, who placed third at the state track meet in the 3200m run and finished seventh in the 1600m.
