Ambulance struck by motorist on its way to a call Sunday evening

Hallettsville police cited a motorist Sunday evening in the 800-block of West Fairwinds Street (U.S. Highway 90A) after the driver failed to control his speed and struck the side of a Lavaca County EMS ambulance while that vehicle was responding to an emergency call just west of Hallettsville.

‘Big Sniff’ fire draws 15 agencies to Lavaca County Saturday

Fifteen agencies responded to what they are now calling the “Big Sniff” fire in northeastern-most reaches of Lavaca County Saturday afternoon. Lavaca County Emergency Management Coordinator Egon Barthels reported that the fire had been 100% contained as of 10:37 p.m. Saturday, June 25.
