Burn ban remains status quo

The Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court met in regular meeting Monday, Jan. 26 with a lengthy agenda.After hearing from Lavaca County EMS assistant chief and spokesman for the Lavaca County Fire Chiefs Association Tim Decker, Commissioners Court decided to keep the burn ban off for the county.

Wimberly named Citizen of the Year

The Annual Hallettsville Chamber of Commerce and Agricultural Membership Appreciation and Awards Banquet took place Wednesday evening, Jan. 28 with Clayton Wimberly named Citizen of the Year.

Shiner Band members perform at Region Clinic & Concert

Members from the Shiner Junior High and High School Band performed with the ATSSB 18/26 All-Region bands. Students prepared material for an audition in December, and were then ranked on how well they performed the music.

Council receives HPD Racial Profiling Report

The Hallettsville City Council received the Racial Profiling Report from the Hallettsville Police Department (HPD) at the Jan. 20 meeting.This report is data collected from last year, 2025.

Local drug dealer sentenced to 80 years

The Lavaca County Sheriff ’s Office announced that following a trial and guilty verdict, Duncan Todd Davis of Hallettsville has been sentenced to imprisonment in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.Davis appeared before visiting District Court Judge Robert Updegrove in a trial by jury on Jan.

Show nets $423,537 in sales

The 63rd Annual Hallettsville Jr. Livestock Show and Market Sale was held this past weekend at the William & Alton Allen Exposition Center with sales netting $423,537, which was $3,217 more than last year.

Wild game supper Saturday

The 39th annual Wild Game Supper is set for Saturday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Hallettsville.A smorgasbord of food items on the menu including shrimp, deer, hog, wild rice and duck gumbo, as well as Lavaca County sausage and wild pinto beans.
