Court moves regular meetings to 9 a.m. starting time

The Lavaca Count y Commissioners’ Court met in a regular meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 23 and approved meeting dates as well as county holidays for 2025-26.The court approved continuing to hold its meetings primarily on the second and four th Mondays of each month.

Concerned citizen speaks up against feed bags and debris on the highway

A citizen is concerned about debris from torn feed bags piling up on the highways in Lavaca County. Larry Obst spoke to us about his issues regarding this.“The top of the issue is that the people that bring feed or corn out to their cattle for deer feeders have been neglecting this,” Obst said.

The Kolache Fest celebrated its 30th year this past weekend and it was an event to remember.Kicking things off in the morning was the Kolache Fest parade at the Square. Among them is the Luling Royalty Float which got second place in organization.

Commissioners declare week of Oct. 6 as National 4-H Week

The DeWitt County Commissioners Court made a proclamation declaring the week of Oct. 6 as National 4-H Week at the Sept. 22 meeting.

YEDC reviews budget

The Yoakum Economic Development Corporation (YEDC) held their Annual Meeting on Sept. 16th. Included in the discussion was the review and approval of the 2025- 2026 budget, with funding priorities supporting community and economic development.

Nursing/Rehab Centers host Senior Prom

The South Central Chapter of Activity Professionals, which includes eight area nursing homes in its chapter, hosted its annual Senior Prom last Tuesday, Sept. 9.The prom marked the 21st year for the event and was held at the Sacred Heart Family Center.

Court holds Tuesday meeting

The Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court met a day later than its usual Monday meeting date holding its regular meeting on Tuesday morning, Sept. 23.

National Night Out

The 4th annual National Night Out, hosted by the Hallettsville Police Department, is scheduled for Tuesday evening, Oct. 7.The event will take place at the Hallettsville City Park Soccer fields from 5 to 7 p.m.

The 30th annual Kolache Fest is set to take place this weekend with the majority of the activities held at Knights of Columbus Hall in Hallettsville.What began as an idea in 1995 has now become one of South Texas’ most beloved annual traditions.
