Grass fire causes Hwy. 77 South to close

A grass fire on approximately 25 acres of land caused nearby Highway 77 South to close temporarily last Monday afternoon, Sept. 8.A photo appeared in last week’s Tribune-Herald, however, the report came in after the printing deadline.

LHD board hears healthcare program report

The Lavaca Hospital District Board of Directors met in a regular meeting Monday evening and heard a report on the Main Street Healthcare Program, a Medicare patient advocate service utilized by Lavaca Family Clinic.Representative, Dr.

Hallettsville native receives Outstanding Alumnus Award at Texas A&M University

Oscar J. “Bubba” Woytek, a retired development officer and rancher, has been named an Outstanding Alumnus by the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (VMBS) for his lasting contributions to veterinary medicine and education. He is a Hallettsville native.

Kolache Fest

The annual Kolache Fest will be celebrating its 30th year on Saturday, Sept. 27 with activities held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Hallettsville. The event actually begins on Friday, Sept. 26 with 42 Domino warm-up games played at the hall .

Council approves requests for events

The Hallettsville City Council approved several requests for events in the city at the Sept. 15 meeting.The first request is from the Sacred Heart School to host a Cross Country meet in the City Golf Course and Park happening on Saturday, Oct. 4 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.

LCSO makes arrest Sunday evening

Lavaca County Sheriff ’s Office deputies conducted a drug arrest Sunday evening in the Sweet Home area.According a report from LCSO, Shelby Clark was taken into custody at a residence in Sweet Home in regards to having four outstanding warrants.

HISD board holds short meeting

The Hallettsville ISD Board of Trustees met in a regular meeting Monday evening addressing a short agenda.According to Hallettsville High School principal Mason Briscoe, Halletts - ville High School first scheduled a UIL Academic competition event for Feb.
