Four people sentenced in Lavaca County

Four people from Lavaca County were sentenced this week for crimes they committed.Alan Clem was sentenced to five years in prison for drug possession. This comes after serving a 10- year prison sentence from DeWitt County for arson.

Barnstorm Museum hosts annual Fly In

The Texas Barnstorm Museum hosted its Annual Fly-In last Saturday, Nov. 1 at the Hallettsville Airport.Folks gathered together in their chairs and watched in awe as local planes flew into the airport. It was quite interactive as people were able to view the planes up close and personal.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and a Moulton resident aims to get the word out on the importance of this month.Mava Jalufka was diagnosed with breast cancer twice, first in 2004 and second in 2024. Her first diagnosis was ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS).

Lavaca County gets new mental health deputy

Lavaca County now has a new mental health deputy. This came about after meetings with the Gulf Bend Center in Victoria.“A year ago, we put together a committee, the Lavaca County law enforcement committee,” Lavaca County Sheriff Stephen Greenwell said at a recent Commissioners Court meeting.

LMC has new 3D breast cancer mammography test

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Just in time for that month, The Lavaca Medical Center (LMC) has a new 3D mammogram that patients can use.LMC started offering this service this past March.

LHD board hears strategic planning report for 2026

At Monday’s meeting, the Lavaca Hospital District Board of Directors heard from Lavaca Medical Center chief diagnostic service officer Keith Kutac presented the strategic planning committee’s report for 2025.
Hallettsville High School principal Mason Briscoe was recognized Monday evening at the Hallettsville Independent School District Board of Trustees meeting. With October designated as National Principal Month, Briscoe was presented a certificate for being named Region III High School Principal of the Year. Briscoe Named Region III Principal of the Year

The Hallettsville Independent School District Board of Trustees met in a regular meeting Monday evening and recognized HHS principal Mason Briscoe for being named Region High School Principal of the Year.
