School board shares construction progress, approves teacher raises

The Shiner ISD School Board gave construction updates at the August 13th meeting. “We made the last payment for the construction project. Film is being added on all of the doors. Signage was added above the entry way that says ‘you make a difference in the world.

Shiner Catholic Church readies for upcoming Fall Picnic

Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church is preparing for the annual Fall Picnic set for Sunday, August 31 at the KC Park, 102 South Ave. G.The Fall picnic is entering its 104th year and Father Jacob Mendoza encourages everyone to attend and have a good time.

Moulton Park improvement updates

The Moulton City Council has been making some headway on their ongoing park improvement project.“We’ve accomplished the goals on what we wanted to do for the park,” Council member Adam Nieto said. “We re-did the pavilion area. We took down some dead trees and trimmed them.

Board approves student handbook which includes cell phone ban

The Yoakum Independent School Board members approved the student and employee handbooks for the 2025-26 school year at the Aug. 11 meeting. One of the biggest additions in the student handbook is the prohibition of students using personal cell phone devices on campus.

Sacred Heart Students Step Into a New School Year

Classes begin at Sacred Heart Catholic School on Thursday, Aug. 14 at 7:53 a.m. and will dismiss at regular times.Cafeteria prices for the 2025-26 school year are as follows: Pre-K-4 $4.50; Grades 5-12 $5.00; milk $.50; faculty - $6.00; and adult guest - $7.00.

Board approves tax rate notice

The Hallettsville ISD Board of Trustees met in a regular meeting Monday evening and approved the tax rate notice for the 2025-26 budget year.The Voter Approval (VA) rate calculated for the district for this year is 0.877352 cents per $100 valuation.
