Throughout this past summer Lavaca County, as well as all of South Central Texas, have been under the grips of a major lack of rainfall.According to local National Weather Service observer Larry Rothbauer this area’s rainfall has been very scarce throughout the last three months.

The 4th annual National Night Out will take place Tuesday evening Oct. 7 at the Hallettsville City Park Soccer fields.Hosted by the Hallettsville Police Department, the event will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. It marks the second year for the event to be held at the city park fields.

Voter registration deadline is Monday

New voters, or voters who need to update their registration due to a change of address have until Monday, Oct. 6 to register to vote in the November election.To register to vote in Texas, the individual must complete a paper application and return it to the county election office of their county.

Court moves regular meetings to 9 a.m. starting time

The Lavaca Count y Commissioners’ Court met in a regular meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 23 and approved meeting dates as well as county holidays for 2025-26.The court approved continuing to hold its meetings primarily on the second and four th Mondays of each month.
