The St. John the Baptist Catholic Church picnic Friday, July 4 and will be its 137th anniversary for holding the picnic.All activities will be held at the church’s grounds located at 7026 FM 957 and will begin with a Mass celebrated at 9 a.m.

The Yoakum Heritage Museum (YHM) hosted the second biannual Past Queens Float with 16 riders floating down W. Grand Ave. in Yoakum for the 97th annual Tom Tom Parade.

LHD receives clean audit report

The Lavaca Hospital District Board of Directors met Monday evening, June 16 and heard the district’s annual audit/cost report for the year ending Dec. 31, 2024.
Long-time member of the Lavaca Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6382, Chuck Grafe, was recognized Wednesday night, June 11 at its meeting for his meritorious and dedicated service to the organization. Grafe served as its adjutant (secretary) for 29 years and has also held every office in the local VFW, including its Commander from 2015-16. The 137th annual St. John the Baptist Catholic Church picnic will take place Friday, July 4 with all activities at the church’s grounds located at 7026 FM 957, approximately 6 miles southwest of Schulenburg, or approximately four and a half miles northeast of Moravia.
