Meet new JP1 Lindsay Ruppert

After interviewing eight applicants, the DeWitt County Commissioners appointed Lindsay Renee Ruppert, of Yoakum, as Justice of the Peace for Precinct 1 (JP1) May 12. She will fill the vacancy left by the retirement of Peggy Mayer March 28.

YEDC: Irvine Street parking lot improvement update

The Yoakum Economic Development Corporation provided updates on the parking lot improvements on Irvine Street at the May 20 meeting. The parking lot is across the street from YK Deli and the shopping center. The YEDC owns this parking lot.

Council gives grant project updates

City Administrator LuAnn Rogers gave a report on ongoing projects at the Moulton City Council meeting on May 13.“The waterline replacement that we’ve been doing on County Road 291 is now complete,” Rogers said. “The Texas Water Development Board also approved our grant for wastewater improvements.

LHD elects officers, appoints committee members

The Lavaca Hospital District Board of Directors met Monday evening and held its annual election of officers for 2025-26.Board President James Fenner and secretary Gene Schott will continue their positions on the board, while Carl Hobbs will serve as vice-president.
