For a number of the past years, this community held a Relay For Life event to help raise money for cancer research.That type of event has gone to the wayside, but this year there will be a different event known as Boot Scootin Bash.

The filing deadline for candidates to run for positions on the Hallettsville ISD Board of Trustees and the Hallettsville City Council ended this past Friday, Feb. 14 with each entity reporting candidates who have filed.

Trailer home a major loss in Wednesday night fire

Multiple area fire departments were called to a structure fire last Wednesday night which resulted in a trailer home totally destroyed from the fire.According to a report from Hallettsville VFD chief, Stephen Grahmann, the report came in at 7:42 p.m. that a structure fire was in progress on FM 531.
