November is known for occasional good rain but this year it fell far short of its normal average of 3.52 inches. Officially rainfall reached 1.41 inches during the month, falling 2.11 inches short.Rain fell on six days with the largest amount of one inch coming on the fifth.

Lavaca County youth join forces this Christmas

For the second year in a row, the youth of the Shiner Royal Court, Hallettsville Royal Court, and the Moulton Youth Ambassadors are gearing up for Deputy Santa.These groups will collect gifts for newborns to ten-year-olds and senior citizens.

2024 election sets new local record turnout of voters

At the Monday, Nov. 25 Commissioners’ Court meeting, Lavaca County election administrator Tenia Hudson presented the voting results from the election held in early November.According to Hudson, the county had a phenomenal voter turnout with a total of 10,533 casting a ballot.

Court hears telecommunications update

The Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court met in a regular meeting Monday, Nov. 25 and heard from Lavaca County EMS chief Michael Furrh regarding an update on the telecommunications system that is being implemented throughout the county.

Festival of Lights had a huge turnout

The annual Hallettsville Festival of Lights turned out to be a massive success. The Christmas spirit was alive and well as many gathered to celebrate 27 years of the event.The event kicked off at noon and entertainment for both kids and adults were provided.

YEDC presents grant check to Yoakum Memorial Association

The Yoakum Economic Development Corporation presented the ceremonial “big check” to the Yoakum Memorial Association at the Nov. 18 Board meeting.The actual funds were released to the YMA during the September Board meeting.
