Hallettsville ISD Focus on Facilities

As part of the District’s Strategic Plan, Hallettsville ISD adopted the following Vision and Goal on March 18, 2019.  VisionHISD will have a safe and progressive infrastructure for students and staff that encompasses multi-use facilities for academics, athletics, and career development.

SPH Class of 1969 holds reunion

The St. Paul High School Class of 69 held their 55 year class reunion Saturday evening, September 21 at Robert’s Steakhouse in Flatonia.  An evening of visiting, reminiscing and eating were enjoyed by those in attendance. 
Lavaca County EMT, Lawrence Kurtz was recognized at Monday’s Commissioners’ Court meeting for 47 years of emergency service for the citizens of Lavaca County. Court approves four proclamations

The Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court met in a regular meeting Monday morning and approved four proclamations with the first involving the recognition of Sacred Heart Catholic Church Parish pastor Msgr.

Cannon rededication ceremony held on island by YCC AND YPD Sept. 19

The monumental M1 57 MM Anti-Tank Gun purchased by the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2456 somewhere between 1951 and 1952 was donated to the City of Yoakum in December of 2000.The anti-tank gun (the cannon), has held guard over the City of Yoakum for more than two decades.
The Yoakum Economic Development Corporation (YEDC) Board of Directors presented $3,011 to the Yoakum American Legion Post 395. The matching grant funded the 16’X18’ concrete slab that is the foundation for the recently renovated World War II M1 57 MM AntiTank Gun purchased by the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2456 somewhere between 1951 and 1952. YEDC presents check to Yoakum American Legion Post 395

The cannon was donated to the City of Yoakum in December of 2000. The YEDC has been committed to assisting local organizations in beautification efforts for many years.

DeWitt County Commissioners honor National 4-H Week with proclamation

DeWitt County Commissioners made a proclamation designating the week starting Oct. 6 as National 4-H Week at the Sept. 23 meeting.

Court enacts second burn ban

As of Monday morning, Lavaca County is now under a burn ban.The burn ban was enacted at the Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court meeting due to the recommendation of the Lavaca County Fire Chief’s’ Association.

29th Annual Kolache Fest Saturday

The 29th annual Kolache Fest will take place this Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Hallettsville.Activities will begin on Friday evening, Sept. 27 with 42 Domino warm-up games being played at the hall.

Voter registration deadline Monday, Oct. 7

Lavaca County citizen who plan on voting in the November 5 General Election must be registered to vote.To register to vote, citizens should fill out and turn in a voter registration application to the Lavaca County Elections department.
