The Texas Ramps Project Victoria North Region and the Hallettsville Lions Club are looking for folks to volunteer for the Texas Ramp Project.The Texas Ramp Project is a non-profit organization that builds over 2,400 ramps a year.

Four piece chicken dinner Oct. 13 at KC Hall

The Shiner Knights of Columbus will hold a four piece kettle fried chicken dinner on Sunday, October 13 at the KC Hall from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Plates will include giblet rice and steamed vegetables.Tickets are $13 each and may be purchased at local merchants.

Shiner Game & Fish League BBQ rib, rice fundraiser October 16

On Wednesday, October 16, the Shiner Game and Fish League will be having a whole slab of pork ribs BBQ fundraiser. Quarts of giblet rice will also be sold. Proceeds from this fundraiser supports Green-Dickson Park projects.The barbecue will be held from 4-6 p.m. at Arthur Kaspar Pavilion.

Voter registration deadline is Monday

Lavaca County citizens who plan to vote in the November 5th General Election and are not registered to vote have until Monday, Oct. 7 to register to vote. Citizens need to fill out a voter registration application and turn it in to the Lavaca County Elections department.

City Council adopts tax rate, approves request from Pilot Club

Virginia Vincik retires from nursing after 51 years

Residents and co-workers at Shiner Nursing and Rehabilitation Center said their heartfelt good-byes to newly retired staff member Virginia Vincik. A retirement party was held on Monday, September 23.“I’ve been working at the nursing home for 51 years.
