Carolyn Jean Melnar Rokyta, 78, of Port Lavaca, passed away on Monday, Sept. 25, 2023.   She was born on Sept. 14, 1945 in Hallettsville. Carolyn was a very loving and kind-hearted person who cherished her family deeply.  She took great pride in her grandchildren and their accomplishments.

Laverne L. Valis

Laverne Lanell Valis, 87, of Shiner, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2023. Visitation was held from 4:30-6 p.m. Friday, September 29 followed by a prayer service at 6 p.m. at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m.

Homer Charles Bade Jr.

Homer Charles Bade Jr., 90, of Cuero, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023.   He was born on December 9, 1932 in San Antonio, to Homer and Hertha Windmeyer Bade. He married Lila Eunice Frieda on February 7, 1954 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sublime.

Reta East (ORetabelle Mary Goodrich, Connor, East), 102 years old, of Hallettsville, passed away peacefully at her residence at the Hallettsville Rehab and Nursing Home on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2023.

Delores Kartman Chaloupka

Delores Kartman Chaloupka, 89, passed away Monday, Sept. 11, 2023 with her family by her side.  Delores was born in Hallettsville on Sept. 1, 1934 to Louis and Annie Volcik Kartman. Delores was raised in the Moravia community with her sister, Dot.

Michael Joseph Pohler, of Shiner, passed on September 17, 2023, at the age of 71. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, September 27 at Shiner Funeral Home, followed by a rosary at 7 p.m.   Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 28 at Sts.

John Herald Kloppenburg, 72, of Sublime, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2023 at his home.  He was born in Lavaca County on Sept. 8, 1950. John enjoyed watching Gunsmoke and hunting and fishing.   He was the son of  the late John and Lucy Kloppenburg.
