Esther Castellow, 100, of Sublime, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023, with her daughter and granddaughters by her side.   She was born Dec, 13, 1922 on the “hom place” north of Sublime to Clark and Esther Kelley Brooks.

Joseph ‘Joe’ F. Konecny

Joseph “Joe” F. Konecny, 88, of Santa Fe, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, Feb.  21, 2023.   He was born on March 9, 1934 in Hallettsville, to parents, Henry and Stephina Konecny.   He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #10393 and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Sidney L. Brown

Sidney E. Brown (Sid), 85, of Victoria passed away March 24, 2023.  He was born November 1, 1937 in Mason, TX to Wesley Earnest and Treasure Simer Brown.  Sidney served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and worked as a Lab Analyst for DuPont.

Jason P. Pilat

Jason Pete Pilat, 47, of Shiner, passed away Friday, March 17, 2023. Jason was born March 21, 1975, in Shiner to Pete and Lois Motal Pilat. He was a life member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church.

Margaret A. Smotek

Margaret A. Smotek, 97, of Hallettsville, went to be with the Lord on March 14, 2023.   She was born in Howellville on Feb. 25, 1926, to Eddie and Amalie Klechka Schiller.  On Sept. 15, 1946, Margaret married Albert E. Smotek in Houston.

Donald Robert Coquat

Donald Robert Coquat, 83, of Sublime, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. He was born Oct. 13, 1939, in Luling, to Robert Homer and Mavis Lee (Wommack) Coquat.   Burial was on March 15 at Willow Creek Cemetery in Sublime.

Ralph E. Stevens

Ralph Eugene Stevens, 86, of Shiner, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023.   He was born on December 2, 1936 in Burkburnett, Texas to Virgil Vance and Elva Jane England Stevens.  He enjoyed fishing and the waterfront as a young boy having spent many of his childhood years in Gregory.

Alice Louise Grossman Zbranek, of Shiner, passed away peacefully Monday, March 6, 2023, in Luling. Alice was born May 26, 1951, in Gonzales, to Henry Grossman and Evelyn Landback Grossman. She married her husband Frederick James Zbranek July 11, 1969, in Sts.

Janie E. Sandelovic, 93, of Yoakum, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023. A rosary was recited at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 17 with funeral service following at 11 a.m. at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home. Burial was held at St.

Georgia Malik Sladecek

Georgia Malik Sladecek, 83, of Houston, passed away on Monday, Feb. 27, 2023 at Houston, Hospice due to complications of COPD. Private services were held on Thursday, March 2.   Interment was made at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery in Breslau. Monsignor John Peters graciously presided.
