YHS Lady Bulldog Volleyball Team splits home tri-match

The Yoakum High School (YHS) Lady Bulldogs split a trimatch at home to Gonzales and Shiner on Aug. 13.The Lady Bulldogs swept Gonzales and then finished with a five-set loss to the Shiner Lady Comanches.

Lady Bulldogs take silver bracket championship at tournament

The Yoakum High School (YHS) Lady Bulldogs went 4-4 and won the Silver Bracket at the Cuero Tournament last Thursday through Saturday.CUERO 2, YOAKUM 0The Lady Bulldogs opened with the hosts Lady Gobblers and lost 25-22, 25-22.

Moulton cross country:Kittens XC win JV race in Yoakum

The Moulton cross-country team entered its high-school runners in the junior-varsity races at the Yoakum meet on Saturday.The girls got first place and the boys got fifth.JV Girls 1.5 milesThe Kittens scored 38 points to edge out  second-place Yoakum who had 43 points.

LB win Purple Bracket

SHINER – After going 1-2 in pool play, the Hallettsville Lady Brahmas won the Purple Bracket in the Shiner Tournament over the weekend.Setter Alaina Halata was named to the alltournament team.The Lady Brahmas are 3-3 on the young season.

'Nettes win two in Shiner Tourney

SHINER – Sacred Heart’s first tournament saw the Indianettes go 2-3 against some very tough competition in the Shiner Tournament Friday and Saturday.The Indianettes reached the Gold Bracket where they lost to El Campo and Victoria St. Joseph.

Lady Brahmas drop season opener

Stockdale’s outside hitter LeAnn Wise almost single handily defeated the Hallettsville Lady Brahmas to spoil Courtney Olbert’s coaching debut here Tuesday, Aug. 13.Wise had 22 kills in the 25-23, 25-21, 25-21 victory in the season opener for both teams.The LB gave up 12 points on service errors.

PETTUS – The Sacred Heart Indians outscored Pettus 1-0 in the scrimmage Friday against Pettus.The lone touchdown came on a short pass from quarterback Andrew Steffek to Clayton Haas.

Brahmas shut out Marion in initial scrimmage

The Hallettsville Brahmas shut out Marion three nothing in their first scrimmage here Friday evening.Halfback Tradyn Williams scored on a 26-yard run, quarterback Wyatt Kram threw a 3-yard scoring pass to Carter Blaha and halfback Chaseton Ford scored on a 31-yard run.

The Shiner and St. Paul cross-country teams ran in the Yoakum meet on Saturday.St. Paul Varsity Girls1.5 milesThe Lady Cardinals scored 94 points to earn the Silver medal, edged out by eight points by winners Goliad.Kristin Cerny led St. Paul with sixth place in 9 minutes, 55.
