Shiner volleyball: Lady Comanches place sixth at home tournament

The Shiner Comanches placed second in the Purple Bracket of the Shiner Tournament, posting a record of 2-3.Senior Chesney Machacek was selected for the All-Tournament Team.Bracket PlayShiner played the Shiner Junior Varsity Gold in the Purple semifinals.

Shiner volleyball: LC spikers beat Gonzales, Yoakum to open season

YOAKUM — The Lady Comanches volleyball kicked off the 2024 season by winning a tri match against Yoakum and Gonzales at Bulldog Gymnasium.Shiner downed the Lady Apaches in three sets and then took host Yoakum to a five-set match.

Shiner football: Shiner battles Tidehaven Tigers in first football scrimmage

There was plenty of scoring between Shiner and 3A Tidehaven in the Comanches Towel and Soap Scrimmage on Friday evening.The teams combined for nine touchdowns with Tidehaven getting a slight advantage 5-4 at the end.

St. Paul football: Cards go toe-to-toe with Frassati Catholic

The St. Paul Cardinals football team scrimmaged Frassati Catholic School on Friday at the SCS practice field.The two teams were even with each scoring a touchdown apiece.“We did well. Did not score a lot but we moved the ball,” St. Paul head coach Barry Wolf said.

Tribe goes on the road for 1st scrimmage

Sacred Heart visits Pettus in its first scrimmage Thursday starting at 6 p.m.Pettus, a 2A, Division II school, is unfortunately in a district with Shiner and Falls City. The other schools are Yorktown, Louise and Charlotte.The War Eagles made the playoffs last season.
