Shiner boys basketball: Carson Schuette wins Co-MVP award

The Shiner Comanches boys basketball team, fresh off their second consecutive playoff appearance, had several players make 28-2A All District.Carson Schuette was named Co-MVP of the district.Jake Simper was selected to the First Team; Kyle Muehlstein and Jared Werner both made the Second Team.

Shiner girls basketball: Shiner girls win more hoops awards

The Shiner Lady Comanches basketball team picked up several more postseason awards.

YHS hosts 21st Special Olympics at Bulldog Stadium

Students from more than a dozen districts gathered at the Yoakum Bulldog Stadium for the first DeWittLavaca Special Olympics Spring Meet on March 22.Friday’s event started with an opening ceremony that welcomed students from DeWitt, Lavaca, and Gonzales counties students.

YHS Bulldog Baseball Team loses district games

After some early hits and runs against Columbus, Yoakum’s defense settled in and got to work; it was the offense that struggled.Columbus got nine hits and four runs in the first two innings but for the remaining five innings scored just one more run on four hits to defeat Yoakum 5-0 on March 19.

YHS Lady Bulldog Softball Team goes 1-1 in district against Columbus, Palacios

The Lady Bulldogs lost to Columbus and beat Palacios last week in district.COLUMBUS 9, YOAKUM 3The Lady Cardinals scored five runs in the fourth inning and four more in the fifth to rally from a small 1-0 deficit to beat Yoakum 9-3 March 19 in Yoakum.

Hallettsville Little League: Enjoying success over the years

The opening day of the Hallettsville Little League season was held this past Saturday, March 23 and marked the 64th year for the baseball side of the program and the 50th year for softball competition.
