Moulton girls basketball: Kittens go 1-1 in first two games

The Bobkittens basketball team split their first two games at Snook and home to Yorktown last week. Snook 31, Moulton 30 Moulton had a 28-19 advantage over Snook going into the fourth quarter but the Lady Bluejays limited the Kittens to two points and scored 12 for a 31-30 win Nov. 8.

Shiner football: Shiner has quick start in 54-14 win over Santa Maria

  ODEM — The Comanches came out hungry and intense in their first-round playoff game. Shiner (9-2) scored 42 first-half points in a 54-14 win over Santa Maria Thursday night at Owl Stadium. “It was a huge win to start the playoffs,” senior Dalton Brooks said.

Shiner baseball: Peterson to pitch in college at SHSU

Comanche senior Ryan Peterson has officially declared his collegiate plans. He signed with Sam Houston State University to play baseball in a signing ceremony Nov. 9 at Shiner High School. “Signing with Sam Houston State feels like I’m going to be with family down there,” Peterson said.

Moulton cross country: Katz place fifth

Both Moulton cross-country teams had good days at the state meet on Saturday in Round Rock. The boys placed top five and the girls were among the top 15 teams. Boys The Katz scored 205 points and placed fifth in team standings, and averaged 19 minutes, 4.5 seconds. Edgar Mendiola took No.

Shiner girls basketball: Lady Comanches open with win over Yoakum

A slightly new team for the Lady Comanches took the floor Nov. 8 against a Yoakum varsity that was made up all JV fill-in due to Yoakum volleyball team reaching the fourth round of the playoffs.

Yoakum cross country: Martinez wraps up CC career at state meet

Yoakum’s lone state cross-country runner, senior Gisela Martinez, placed No. 60 in the 3A two miler with a time of 13 minutes, 18.8 seconds, mile-one split of 6:30.7 and a pace of 6:39 a mile. This was Martinez’s fourth time to compete at the state meet as part of the team or individual.

Senior YFL Bulldogs finish season with one loss

Yoakum’s senior youth football squad concluded their near-perfect season with a Golden Crescent Youth Football League Super Bowl loss to Calhoun County in Hallettsville Saturday night.
