The Shiner Comanches went up against a bigger and physical opponent in Kenedy to close out the regular season. The Comanches matched the physical play and held Kenedy to two scores while scoring enough of their own in a 56-12 win over the Lions Friday night at Comanche Stadium.

Shiner cross country: Lady Comanches placed No. 14 at state meet

The Shiner Lady Comanches cross-country team scored 284 points and placed No. 14 after running in the 2A girls 3,200-meter race Friday at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock. Shiner was led by senior Riley Rainosek who placed No. 64 in 14 minutes, 1.8 seconds.

The Shiner Junior Varsity Purple team finished the season with a 4-12 record. The Lady Comanches beat Ganad 25-11, 25-15 Sept. 23; lost to Weimar 20-25, 25-11, 25-18 Sept. 27; fell to Schulenburg 25-18, 25-17 Oct. 5, and turned around and beat Schulenburg 25-11, 25-22 on Oct. 7.
