Yoakum football: Pirates plunder Yoakum with second-half scores

By Alvin Gomez/Special to the Herald-Times The Yoakum Bulldogs welcomed the Waco La Vega Pirates this past Friday on Parent's Night. The Bulldogs were able to keep the game close going into halftime 21-14. The Pirates pulled away though in the second half of the game with the final score 42-14.

Yoakum cross-country teams took part in the Shiner meet on Saturday. Varsity Girls The Lady Bulldogs scored 108 points to take runner up in the 1A-2A girls. Gisela Martinez was third in 12 minutes, 43.76 seconds. Emily Sanchez was No. 23 in 13:22.93 and behind her was Samantha Adamek in 13:25.

Shiner October cross country meet: Lady Comanches come in first

Shiner and St. Paul cross-country teams competed in the second Shiner meet Saturday at Green-Dickson Park. Shiner Varsity Girls The Lady Comanches scored 39 points to win the 1A-2A division. Riley Rainosek was third in 12 minutes, 42.01 seconds. Hayleigh Burns was fifth in 12:50.

Like a couple of other teams in the district, the Pflugerville Concordia Lady Cardinals were a little mysterious to their avian counterparts in Shiner. St. Paul and Concordia faced off for the first time ever Monday at St. Paul High School with Concordia taking a sweep 25-21, 25-18, 25-14.

Moulton cross country: Katz place second at Shiner October meet

The Moulton cross-country teams returned to Shiner for the second Shiner meet. The varsity girls finished in the top three for their class. Varsity Girls The Kittens scored 97 points to place fifth in the 1A-2A division. Estefania Colchado was sixth with 13 minutes, 5.37 seconds.

Five different players for St. Paul scored a rushing touchdown, Jacob Wachsmuth had a touchdown pass to Trent Brown and the Cardinals played intense defense in a 44-0 win at Austin Brentwood Christian on Friday. St.
