Cross country: Shiner, St. Paul run in Yoakum

The Shiner and St. Paul cross-country teams started the season Saturday in Yoakum with the each school’s girls varsity teams placing top five. Shiner Varsity Girls The Lady Comanches scored 100 points to finish fourth place in the team standings Brinley Ramirez was No.

Yoakum cross country:Lady ‘Dogs come in third

The Yoakum cross-country team started the season with a home meet on Saturday. The varsity girls were the highlights with a third-place finish Varsity Girls The Lady Bulldogs recorded 92 points to win the team Bronze. Gisela Martinez led Yoakum with fifth place in 9 minutes, 58 seconds.

Moulton cross country: ‘Katz runners take third at Yoakum meet

The Moulton cross-country teams competed in their first meet of the season Saturday in Yoakum. The boys came in third place and the girls were in seventh place. Girls The Kittens scored a total of 176 points. Estefania Colchado led the team with seventh place in 10 minutes, 7 seconds.

St. Paul volleyball:St. Paul spikers open with sweep of BHS

The St. Paul Lady Cardinals won their 2022 season opener 3-0 (25-12, 25-13, 25-20) against Bloomington at home on Friday. Ashlyn Pesek had six kills, one block. Avery Pesek contributed four digs, one kill, one ace; Dallyn Pesek had 24 assists, three digs, two kills, two aces.

Yoakum volleyball: Lady 'Dogs win at Luling 3-0

LULING —  The Lady Bulldogs won the first two sets pretty convincingly before rolling up their sleeves in the third game. The Lady ‘Dogs beat Luling in three games (25-15, 25-13, 25-19) Aug. 16 in Luling. “We were very intense for sets one and two,” Yoakum head coach Kayla Natho said.

Area football: Comanches battle Tidehaven, SP scrimmage NS

Both Shiner teams held their first scrimmages at the end of last week. The Cardinals were at Nixon on Thursday while the Comanches hosted Tidehaven in the Soap/Towel Scrimmage on Friday. NS scrimmage beneficial for Cardinals St.

Shiner volleyball: Lady Comanches win runner up at home tournament

The Shiner Lady Comanches won runner up in their home tournament last Friday and Saturday. Juniors Aimee Mitchon and Rylee Vancura were named to the All-Tournament team. Bracket Play Shiner 2, Hallettsville 1 The Lady Comanches beat Hallettsville in three games in the Gold Bracket semifinals.
