Yoakum Baseball:Zaruba to play in two all-star games this month

Yoakum graduate Connor Zaruba will get a couple of more high school games later this month before heading off to college.
The pitcher/infielder has been selected to play in the Coastal Bend All-Star Game on June 12 in Corpus Christi.

Shiner baseball: Comanches relishing return trip to state

The Shiner Comanches baseball team’s hard work and effort this season has paid off with a back-to-back trips to the state tournament.
Shiner (33-0) will play in the UIL Class 2A state semifinals against Garrison (31-7-1) at 7 p.m. at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock.

Several Lavaca County teams competed in the Beach-To-Bay Relay Marathon on May 20 in Corpus Christi. In the Open Women Division, Pretty Fast For a Phat Girl came in No. 18 in 4 hours, 36.38 minutes and Shiner Blondes was No. 96 in 4:37:51. Shiner Baseball: Comanches sweep Mumford in close games

LA GRANGE —The Shiner Comanches baseball secured a second straight trip to the state tournament with a tough series against Mumford Wednesday and Thursday in La Grange.
The Comanches won the first game in a 1-0 pitcher’s duel on Wednesday and took care of business 3-2 on Thursday.
