Klekar achieves tri-fecta at UIL state tournaments

One could say, Robert Klekar, a softball umpire for the past 12 years, reached the tri-fecta this past Wednesday when he was part of an umpiring crew at the University Interscholastic League (UIL)  state softball tournament.

Shiner baseball: Comanches relishing return trip to state

The Shiner Comanches baseball team’s hard work and effort this season has paid off with a back-to-back trips to the state tournament. Shiner (33-0) will play in the UIL Class 2A state semifinals against Garrison (31-7-1)  at 7 p.m. at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock.
Several Lavaca County teams competed in the Beach-To-Bay Relay Marathon on May 20 in Corpus Christi. In the Open Women Division, Pretty Fast For a Phat Girl came in No. 18 in 4 hours, 36.38 minutes and Shiner Blondes was No. 96 in 4:37:51. Shiner Baseball: Comanches sweep Mumford in close games

LA GRANGE —The Shiner Comanches baseball secured a second straight trip to the state tournament with a tough series against Mumford Wednesday and Thursday in La Grange. The Comanches won the first game in a 1-0 pitcher’s duel on Wednesday and took care of business 3-2 on Thursday.
