Yoakum needed some extra time to win the first game of its area-round series against Lago Vista Friday at Rattle Field in San Marcos.
The Vikings came back on Saturday to win the Game No. 2 by a couple of runs and then turned up the heat with a 16-0 run rule in the tiebreaker.

Yoakum softball: Columbus nudges Yoakum out of postseason

The Lady Bulldogs ecstatic run in the playoffs ended last week with a close-contested series with district rival Columbus 2-0 (2-1, 9-7) in Weimar.
In both games, Columbus had to rally, including overcoming a four-run deficit in the seventh inning of the second game.

Moulton Track and FIeld: Colchado places third in the two mile at state

The Moulton Bob Kittens track team had two athletes in three events last Saturday at the state track meet in Austin, bringing home one medal.
Estefania Colchado earned the Bronze in the 3,200-meter run with a final time of 12 minutes, 19.28 seconds and this was also a personal record for her.

After taking the first game of the regional quarterfinal best-of-three against Weimar on the chin 11-0, the Lady Comanches made things more tough for Weimar in the second game but came up short 3-2 to conclude their season.

The Cardinals baseball moved on to the state tournament after mowing down Baytown Christian 18-0 in four innings Friday in Columbus.
St. Paul scored one run in the top of the second to end a scoreless game, drove in nine runs in the third and eight runs in the fourth.
