Three-sport Cardinal athlete Zak Johnson had solidified a huge chunk of his collegiate plans.
Johnson has accepted an offer from and has committed to Temple College in central Texas to play baseball at the junior college level.

A trio of Shiner Lady Comanches track athletes were recognized for their performance in the class room.
Bailey Smith (1st Team), Megan Epley (2nd Team) and Carly Pustka (Honorable Mention) made the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Academic All-State Team.

Beck Bishop ties for No. 29 at state golf tournament

Shiner junior golfer Beck Bishop competed as an individual in the state tournament May 9-10 at Lion’s Municipal Golf Course in Austin. He carded a 92 on the first day and recorded a 106 on the second day for a total of 198. Bishop officially tied for 29th place in the individual standings.

The St. Paul Cardinals baseball team wrapped up the season as TAPPS V state finalists after a narrow 3-2 loss to Weatherford Christian the morning of May 18 at the state tournament held at the University of Texas at Arlington’s Clay Gould Ballpark.

Yoakum Basketball: Yoakum cagers to play in All-Star game

Four Yoakum basketball players will play in an All-Star game next month.
Lady Bulldog players Brooklin Berger and Taylor Hlavac, and Bulldog players Isaiah Bordovsky and Calder Peagler will take part in the 3rd Lace ‘Em Up All-Star Game June 4 at the Schulenburg High School new gym.

Shiner 10, Big Sandy 0: Peterson, Comanches shut down Big Sandy in area-round contest

Ryan Peterson struck out 12 batters, pitched a no-hitter with just one walk in Shiner’s 10-0 win over Big Sandy Friday evening in a single-game area round series at Waller High School.
Shiner scored five runs in the first inning and led 6-0 after three innings.

AUSTIN — The Shiner Lady Comanches and Comanches state track team participants picked up two Silver and one Bronze at Mike A. Meyers Stadium in Austin on Friday.

Yoakum Track and Field: Sprint-relay team earns third place

The Yoakum boys track team had two relay teams compete in the UIL state meet Thursday at Mike A. Meyers Stadium in Austin. The Bulldogs brought a medal back to Yoakum.
The 400-meter relay team of Jayden Jones, Cavan Smith, Qyion Williams and KaDarius Price won a Bronze medal with a time of 42.
