Lady Brahmas handed first district loss

No. 7 ranked Columbus justified its lofty state ranking with a 15, 18, 12 sweep of the Hallettsville Lady Brahmas here Friday evening.The Lady Cards easily won the first set,25-15.

After two spine-tingling matches, the Hallettsville Lady Brahmas got a breather with an 11, 17, 10 sweep Rice Consolidated in a District 25-AAA match here Friday evening.Hallettsville advanced to 4-0 in district and 18-14 overall.

Lady Brahmas finish fourth

ALTAIR – The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas finished fourth in the Rice Invitational Tournament Thursday Friday and Saturday.In pool play on Thursday, the Lady Brahmas defeated Ganado (25- 10, 25-7) Navasota JV (25-23 23-25, 25-19) and La Grange 25-23, 23-25, 25-19).

Lady Brahmas 3, Gonzales 1

The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas began the season Aug. 12 and finally played their first home match here Tuesday, Aug. 26.The long wait turned out well as the Lady Brahmas defeated the Lady Apaches 3-1 (28-30, 25-23, 25-21, 25- 17) before a boisterous student body.The first set was one for the books.

Lady Brahma volleyball

The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas began practice Saturday with 38 players.Coach Courtney Olbert will try to steer the ship in the right direction after three-straight seasons in missing the playoffs.“Our goal, of course, is to make the playoffs,” Olbert said. “I feel we have the kids to do it.

Practice for fall sports begins

Football, volleyball, and cross country practice begins Aug. 4 for local high schools next week.Wanda Orsak begins here 35th year as the head coach of Sacred Heart volleyball.Orsak will have to replace Annika Brooks who signed with Blinn College.
