41st Annual ABBC Awards Banquet this Saturday at Shiner KC Hall

The Shiner Business Men’s Club will be hosting their 41st annual Area Big Buck Contest Awards Banquet this Saturday, February 11 at the Shiner KC Hall. Doors open at 3 p.m. with social hour from 3-5. There will be door prizes throughout the day, for registered contest hunters present.

During those dark days of the Texas Revolution, many men came forward and represented themselves well in the war with Mexico. When we think of those times, the names Travis, Houston, Austin, Bowie, and Crockett quickly come to mind.

Lavaca County 4-H team advances at State

On Sunday, January 15, Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo held their Dairy Judging Contest that was also the 4-H State Dairy Judging Contest. In the overall contest, the Lavaca County Senior Team of Brenden Henke, Zachary Henke, Nathan Henke and Brooklyn Griffith placed 5th.

Women serving their country

Women have been a part of the United States military for over 100 years, but it wasn't until 1948 that they were officially allowed to serve in the armed forces. In recent years, the role of women in the military has expanded significantly and they now serve in a wide variety of roles and positions.
