The Moulton City Council discussed grants for park improvements at the March 12 meeting.

"We’ve been talking about this for a little while now,” City Secretary LuAnn Rogers said. “One of the things that (council) wants to address is making the park a little more friendlier for people who have disabilities. There are some wheelchair accessibilities in the park, but we want to add to those. They also talked about potentially inviting the public to sponsor certain parts of the park. For example, we want to re-do the tennis courts.”

Council is welcoming any entities to sponsor for these improvements.

“For example, if someone wanted to sponsor the ballpark, it’s possible that their name could be on the ballpark,” Rogers said. “You see these types of sponsorships in big stadiums where (the entities) will get credit for this sponsorship. We welcome any people in the public or any businesses to sponsor certain projects in the park.”

The council also approved the application for a grant from the Texas Water Development Board. This is to offer asset management programs. The grant will be somewhere around $100,000.

The council also submitted a project information form for water and wastewater projects.

The Moulton Police Department report showed that there was a total of 562 service calls. 99 traffic stops were made with 27 citations issued and 72 warnings given.

Ten citations were given for the violation of the truck route ordinance.

Police Chief Daniel Beyer and the Moulton ISD School Resource Officer attended School Safety Training in Victoria. A good majority of the Moulton ISD administrative staff were also present.
