Shiner ISD discusses Senate Bill 763

Shiner ISD board directors discussed how Senate Bill 763 will impact the district when they met Monday, Sept. 18, and the got update on the 2023 bond project work. Senate Bill 763 allows Texas schools to use safety funds on unlicensed chaplains to fulfill needed counseling roles on school campuses.

Texas Attorney General reinstated following acquittal on 16 impeachment articles

Impeached Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton was acquitted on all 16 impeachment articles, thwarting an effort to remove him from office on corruption allegations, state and national media sources reported Saturday.

Uninsured rates fall in 2022, latest census data shows

The share of people without health insurance coverage decreased in 27 states between 2021 and 2022, according to a U.S. Census Bureau report released last week. In 25 states where the uninsured rate decreased, at least one of the many types of public or private insurance changed significantly.

Income inequality decreased for first time since 2007

Income inequality declined in 2022 for the first time since 2007, due primarily to declines in real median household income at middle and top income brackets, according to the latest data from the U.S. Census released last week.

Coach Pat Henke was honored before last Friday’s game, along with his family, for his dedication and many accomplishments during his time at Sacred Heart, local booster club members reported this week.
