Billy Wayne Long

Billy Wayne Long, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 surrounded by his loved ones. 
He was born January 9, 1948 in Yoakum. He was raised and attended school in Shiner. He had 10 brothers and sisters whom he loved dearly.
He was a hard working, hard loving cowboy at heart who loved old westerns, dancing, BBQing and above all loved God and his family. 
He spent his lifetime working in various construction fields but his expertise was Supervisor and Field Service Technical Engineering where he traveled coast to coast doing government contract work on naval ships. He shared 55 years with the love of his life Susie. 
He is survived by his wife, Linda Susan; daughter, Kasondra; sons, Billy Shane and Kenneth (Tanya) Long; grandchildren, Christopher Jett (Tiffany), Mark Cates (Ryann), Colten Long (Hailey), Katelyn Cates (Josh), Raegann Long, Nicholas Covington, Benjamin, Brooklyn and Braydon Long; 17 great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy; and siblings, Wesley (Tammy) Long, Margie Friedel, Vernon Long and Ruth Ryland. 
He was preceded in death by his son, Billy Wayne Long Jr.; his parents, Hubert V. and Myrtle R. Long, siblings: Lynda, Leon, Kenneth, Shirley Fuller, Wanda Williams and Nita Edwards.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 1 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home in Gonzales, with lunch to follow at the American Legion Hall in Shiner.
