Body

Sallye Voskamp, 97, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024.
She was born Jan. 17, 1927 in Abilene,  to Henry Tanner Walker and Bettie Lee Castles Walker.
Sallye graduated from Columbus High School, Columbus, and Southwestern University in Georgetown.
She was a public school teacher, who taught at Sheridan, Houston, Kenedy, Corpus Christi and Hallettsville. After 30-plus years, she retired continuing to perform multiple at long-term substitute teaching positions.
Sallye also spent time lovingly chauffeuring A.D., which many of us know could be a very difficult, albeit fun, task.
Sallye married Ardnie “A.D.” Voskamp Jr. on June 5, 1948 at First Methodist Church in Columbus. They were blessed with almost 50 years of marriage before A.D. passed away on Feb. 15, 1998.
Sallye is survived by her daughter, Johannah Bonewald (Jerry) of Victoria; her son, Tanner Voskamp (Johnny) of Tulsa, Okla.; five grandchildren, Greg Bonewald (Wendy) of Wimberley; Mike Bonewald (Brandy) of Victoria; Adrienne Voskamp Prewett (Matt) of Austin; Travis Voskamp of Hallettsville and Ian Voskamp (Alexandra) of Schulenburg. 10 great-grandchildren, Hallie, Sydney, Logan and Grayson Bonewald; Saxon, Klyne and Tillie Prewett; Tyler, Tanner Carroll, and Saybra Pinney.
We are honoring our mother’s request to not have a funeral and follow her wishes of having a small, private family gathering to visit and celebrate her life together.
Sallye donated her body to the UT Health Science Center.
