Joseph A. Soto, 73, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023. He was born December 16, 1949, to Juan Sr. and Maria (Dominguez) Soto. Born in Gonzales but raised in Shiner, as a boy, Joe would help his father with various farm work.

 Michael Goode, 69, of Hallettsville, passed away Sunday,  April 2, 2023.   He was born June 25, 1953 in Hallettsville to Curtis Goode Sr. and Henrietta Williams Goode.   Michael served in the U.S. Army and was retired from the U.S.P.S. as a mail handler.  He was a member of St.

Jeanne Marie McClain

Jeanne Marie McClain, 79, of Schulenburg, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023 in Hallettsville. She was born in Houma, Louisiana on July 6, 1943 to Clarence Gene Matherne and Delphine Ann (Cenac) Matherne. On June 28, 1980 she married David Frank McClain Sr.

Ervin Flowers, 76, of Shiner, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 14 at First United Methodist Church, with Pastor Jasper Armwood officiating.

Owen R. Seidenberger, CLU, ChFC, RFC

Owen R. Seidenberger, a lifetime resident of San Antonio, passed away on February 21, 2023 in San Antonio, surrounded by his beloved family. Owen was born on August 21, 1944, in Shiner. He graduated from LaSalle Catholic High School in San Antonio in 1962.  He earned a B.B.A.

David Jaks

A year ago on April 1, 2022, we lost our dad, brother, husband and friend.   David was born on August 28, 1939 in Shiner, to Alphonse and Elvera Jaks, the scond child of four.  His paternal grandmother was Klotilda Wagner, who lived 100 years.

Bruce Allen Rothbauer

Bruce Allen Rothbauer, 63, of El Campo, passed away Monday, March 27, 2023.  He was born on Nov. 7, 1959 in Hallettsville to Eugene “Gene” and Lexie Etlinger Rothbauer.  During high school he was a four-year letterman in football with the nickname “Tank.

Allyne Chapman

Allyne Chapman, 76, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023.   She was born on Oct. 2, 1946 to Elnora Gerloff Buehring and Eldor J. Buehring. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. and continue until 7 p.m., Friday, April 7 at Smith Funeral Home in Moulton. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m.

Tommy Gene Pagel

Tommy Gene Pagel, 80, passed away unexpectedly in his residence in Hallettsville, on Saturday, March 25, 2023. Tommy is survived by his wife, Gussie Pagel; daughter, Cindy Bielec and husband, Randy; sisters, Barbara Warburton and Sharon Parr and husband, Steve, and numerous sisters/brothers-in-law.
