On Monday, May 1, 2023, Leona M. Janak Sestak left this world to be with our Lord and Savior at the age of 81. Leona was born on January 11, 1942, in Wied, Texas, to the late Adolph and Elizabeth Heidaker Janak.

Phyllis Willyn (Lyn) Stindt

Phyllis Willyn (Lyn) Stindt was born on December 10, 1939, to the late Markus and Williben Ploeger of Yoakum, Texas as their only child. Lyn passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023 after a lengthy illness at her home in Alvin, TX being assisted by her son and Hospice care.

Barbara Jean Kubenka

Barbara Jean Kubenka, 82, of Georgetown passed away early Saturday morning, March 25, 2023.  Not only was she a lovely and extraordinary lady, but she possessed a rare warmth and charm that drew others close to her.

Billy Joe Wingfield Hobbs, 87, of Hallettsville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 23, 2023. Billy was born on Oct. 9, 1935, to Joe Letha and Johnnye Jacobs Hobbs in Bay City.

Glenn Edmund Schulte, 83, of Yoakum was called home by his Lord Thursday, April 27, 2023 after a brief illness.   He was born May 16, 1939 in Hallettsville to Joseph and Emily (Lucke) Schulte.

John Lee Korenek

John Lee Korenek, beloved husband and father, passed away Friday, April 7, 2023 as a result of complications from an 8-year battle with Wegener's kidney disease and mantle cell lymphoma.   He was born on May 23, 1940, in Nada. He was the oldest of 11 children born to Richard and Adela Korenek.

Baby Sophia Grace Garcia

Baby Sophia Grace Garcia of Moulton was born on Feb. 5, 2023 to Stephanie Solis and Carlos Garcia and was called to her eternal home to be with Jesus on April 2, 2023. Baby Sophia is survived by her parents; one  brother; one sister; three grandparents; four aunts and uncles, and seven cousins.

Annabelle Furrh

Annabelle Furrh, 91, of Moulton, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 20, 2023 at her home.  She was born March 6, 1932 in Akron, Ohio to Harry and Ruth (Martz) Brown. When she was three years old, her family moved to San Antonio where she graduated from Alamo Heights High School.

John Tarver Payne, ‘Jak’

John Tarver Payne, “Jak,” passed away peacefully at Christus Spohn Shoreline in Corpus Christi early Wednesday morning, April 19, 2023.  Jak was employed as the manager of the keyboard section at the Corpus Christi Guitar Center for the past fifteen years.

Lawrence Lee Bozka
