Miscellaneous sports: Brooke Otto wins post-season awards
Congratulations to Brooke Otto, who earned Second Team All-Sunbelt Conference honors for 2026.
Otto was also awarded a spot on the NFCA All-Gulf Region Team.
Otto a junior, due to a season ending injury in 2025, plays third base for the University of Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns softball team.
Coming back from her injury, she has emerged as one of the team’s top offensive producers. Her 2026 Stats are: Batting Ave .343, runs- 32; hits-49; HR-11, and leads the team with 46 RBIs. The Ragin’ Cajuns’ are a member of the Sunbelt Conference and compete in the D1 NCAA Conference.
Her local fans include Grandmother Barbara Otto, and Uncle Johnny and Aunt Cheryl Otto Kasper.
Brooke Otto’s hometown support includes her parents, Wayne and Christie Otto; siblings, Lane and Addison, and Grandparents Mary and Howard Burns of Smithville.
