Shiner baseball: Wenske pitches in 11 games for SFA

    Shiner graduate and Stephen F. Austin junior Drew Wenske saw action on the mound for several games for the Lumberjacks in the 2026 season.
    His first action came on Feb. 14 in the third game of a three-game series against Mississippi Valley State. Wenske pitched one inning with two hits, three strikeouts, one batter hit by pitch and 23 total pitches as SFA won 14-5.
    He worked 1/3 innings with one hit, one run, one strikeout and two batters hit in the opening game of a four-game series Feb. 20 at Arkansas-Pine Bluff in a 6-3 loss.
    In the closing game of the series on Feb. 22, Wenske pitched one inning with two walks, and made two assists on two chances in the field for 1.000 fielding percentage during the Lumberjacks’ 11-5 win.
    He worked 1/3 innings with one strikeout and three pitches in the third game of a three-game series at New Orleans University on March 1; SFA came up short 12-6.
    His next game was March 6 at Lamar University in an 11-3 loss for SFA in the second game of a doubleheader and second game of a three-game series. He allowed one hit, two runs, two earned runs, one wild pitch, one batter hit and a 99.00 Earned Run Average (ERA).
    In a 14-1 loss at Texas A&M University on March 10, Wenske ceded one hit, walked two batters and threw 17 pitches.
    In a 9-4 loss to Abilene Christian at home March 25, Wenske walked two and had 14 pitches.
    Wenske pitched 2/3 innings with six pitches in a 15-3 win over Prairie View A&M March 31 at home.
    He pitched one inning with one hit, one run, one earned run, two walks, one strikeout, 23 pitches and a 9.00 ERA in a 13-7 win at Prairie View A&M on April 14.
    Wenske pitched one frame with three strikeouts and 12 pitches in a home game April 15 against Alcorn State as SFA won 16-8.
    His final outing of 2026 season came at Nicholls State on April 18 where he worked 1/3 innings, three hits, five runs, five earned runs, two walks, one double, one triple, 30 pitches and 135.00 ERA.
    Wenske played in 11 games total for the season with SFA going 5-6 in those games. On the mound, he pitched 5 2/3 innings, nine hits, nine runs, eight earned runs, 10 walks, nine strikeouts,one triple, one double, one wild pitch, four batters hit by pitch, 135 total pitches and a season ERA of 12.71. In the field, he had two chances with two assists and 1.000 fielding.
