Shiner football: Doug Brooks has over two dozen tackles in final season with TAMU-K

Shiner 2022 graduate Doug Brooks took part in all 11 games during the 2025 football season for the Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
The Javelina finished 5-6 and posted a 4-5 mark in conference play.
In TAMUK’s season-opening with at home over Lincoln University (60-12), Brooks had two solo tackles, one assist for three total tackles and one tackle for a loss of 0.5 yards/.
He started Sept. 13 at Northwest Missouri City University but did not register any tackles in a 49-20 loss for the Javelinas.
Brooks had one solo tackle and one total tackle Sept. 20 in a home loss to University of Texas at the Permian Basin, 43-30.
In a 52-3 win at Sul Ross State University on Sept. 27, Brooks had two assists, one solo tackle, three total tackles, one tackle for loss of 11 yards and one sack for loss of 11 yards.
On Oct. 4 in a 31-24 loss at Midwestern State University, he registered two solo tackles, two total tackles and a fumble recovery for 23 yards.
On Oct. 11, TAMUK hosted Angelo State University, taking a 24-19 win and Brooks had one quarterback hurry.
In a 24-21 loss at Central Washington University on Oct. 18, he had two solo tackles and two assists for four total tackles.
Brooks had one assist, one total tackle and one quarterback hurry as the Javelinas fell to Western Oregon University 34-27 at home Oct. 25.
TAMUK lost in a shootout, 53-48, at West Texas A&M on Nov. 1 with Brooks making one solo tackle, two assists, 1.5 tackles for a loss of five yards and three total tackles.
He had his finest performance of the season Nov. 8 at home to Western New Mexico University with six total tackles, two solo tackles, four assists, 1.5 tackles for loss of 10 yards, 1.5 sacks for loss of 10 yards, one pass breakup and one block to help the Javelinas to a 64-13 win.
TAMUK closed out the season Nov. 15 at Eastern New Mexico, winning 45-28 with Brooks making three total tackles, two solo tackles, one assist, one tackle for loss, one sack for loss, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
Brooks’s totals for his senior  year were 26 total tackles, 13 solo tackles, 13 assists, six tackles for loss of 26.5 yards, 3.5 sacks for loss of 21 yards, two quarterback hurries, one pass breakup, one block, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries for 23 yards.
