St. Paul cross country, track and field: Cerny sees cross-country, track action in 25-26

    Shiner St. Paul grad and Sam Houston State University cross-country, and track and field athlete Brooke Cerny took part in several meets during her sophomore year of the 2025-26 academic year.
    Cross Country
    In the Bearkat Twilight at home on Sept. 5, Cerny earned seventh in the University/College Women 3.12 miles with a time of 20 minutes, 55.1 seconds and a pace of 6:42.3 a mile. SHSU placed first out of three teams with a score of 33.
    Indoor track
    Cerny competed in two meets during the 2025-26 indoor track season.
    In the Texas A&M-McFerrin 12 Degree Invitational in College Station on Dec. 6, 2025. Cerny got fifth in the 600-meter run with a time of 1 minute, 37.69 seconds.
    In the University of Houston’s Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational on Jan. 10, Cerny got No. 11 in the 800 with a time of 2:22.19.
    Outdoor Track
    She competed in meets in Waco and College Station in the 2026 outdoor season.
    Cerny got No. 21 in the 800 with a time of 2:21.05 and a 400-meter split of 1:08.60 in the Baylor Clyde Hart Classic March 27-28 in Waco.
    In Texas A&M’s 44 Farm Teams Invitational April 9-11 in College Station, she placed seventh with 2:19.91 in the 800.
