Yoakum Little League All-Star games update

The Yoakum Major League (11-12) All-Stars fought their way before losing to Hallettsville 9-1 in the finals of the District 31 East Zone Tournament June 17.Yoakum lost to Shiner in the opening round before winning against Gonzales, Lockhart before getting revenge with a victory against Shiner.

End of the line for Major League girls

LOCKHART – Turnabout is fair play.After losing to Hallettsville in the first round Saturday 7-2, Port Aransas run-ruled the local AllStars 11-1 in five innings Monday evening.The loss eliminated Hallettsville from the playoffs.

Shiner basketball: Shiner ISD Basketball Camp

The Shiner ISD Basketball Camp was hosted by head coaches Jeff Akin and Kristi Peterson. The kids worked on fundamentals of dribbling, shooting, passing and working as a team while competing and playing games.

Shiner football: Doug Brooks has over two dozen tackles in final season with TAMU-K

Shiner 2022 graduate Doug Brooks took part in all 11 games during the 2025 football season for the Texas A&M University-Kingsville.The Javelina finished 5-6 and posted a 4-5 mark in conference play.

Local youth sports: Shiner junior softball wins first two sectional games

The Shiner Junior Softball team opened the section tournament on Saturday in Palacios with an 11-3 win over Needville and followed up with a 14-5 rout of the the hosts on Sunday.Shiner was scheduled to play the winner of Rockport/Palacios yesterday for the tournament championship.

ML boys lose a tough one, 6-5

NEW BRAUNFELS – The Hallettsville Major League All-Stars suffered a heart-breaking loss to New Braunfels Blue 6-5 Monday evening, giving the Comal County team the District 31 championship.Hallettsville had won the first game before dropping the next two in the best-ofthree series.

Major Girls Section IV Tournament

The Hallettsville Major League All-Star softball will play in the Section IV Tournament starting Saturday, June 27 in Lockhart.Hallettsville will meet District 29 champion Aransas Pass in the first game at 8 p.m.The 6 p.m. game has Industrial playing Sweeny.

Major girls win district title

After being run ruled Wednesday, June 17 by Cuero, the Hallettsville Major (11-12) All-Stars returned the favor with a 14-4 runrule victory here Thursday evening, June 18.The game was called after five innings.
