Indians open season with Eagles

The Sacred Heart Indians will open the 2026 season when they host Boerne Geneva here Friday at 7 p.m.The schools were in the same district together in 2016-2017 and the Eagles won both games.The Indians will face a good aerial game. Geneva quarterback Caleb Quitadamo returns.

ALTAIR – The Indianettes didn’t start out with a bang in their season opener against Altair Rice Consolidated Tuesday, Aug. 11.Sacred Heart won in four sets, 25-27, 25-18, 25- 15, 25-10.

Lady Brahmas in Columbus Tournament

The Lady Brahmas opened the season in the Columbus - Kecia Davis Memorial Tournament held Thursday thru Saturday.I was at the Weimar match Saturday, but the others were not reported.The LB defeated Weimar 25-20, 25-18.

Brahmas host Giddings in final scrimmage

Hallettsville will host Giddings in its final scrimmage here Thursday starting at 6 p.m. with the junior varsity.The Brahmas scrimmaged Rice Consolidated in Altair last Thursday.“I was pleased with the offensive line in the scrimmage,” Brahma head coach Levi Montgomery said.

Shiner, St. Paul football: Cardinals open at St. Joe; scrimmage reports

St. Paul played its one preseason scrimmage against Frassauti Catholic and is set to open the regular season at Victoria St. Joseph while Shiner hosted Tidehaven and will scrimmage at Schulenburg tomorrow.

Shiner Catholic School and Shiner ISD cross-country runners ran in the Yoakum meet on Saturday.St. PaulVarsity Girls (1.49 miles)St. Paul came in ninth in the team standings.McKinley Jacobs placed No. 19 in 10 minutes, 33.47 seconds. Frances Filip was No. 35 in 11:15.00.

St. Paul volleyball: Lady Cards rally to defeat Georgetown Grace in five sets

The St. Paul Lady Cardinals found themselves in a 2-0 hole after two matches in the season opener.First-year head coach Taylor Hudson made personnel changes and St. Paul rallied for a 22-25, 15-25, 25-21, 25-18, 15-12 win over Georgetown Grace Academy Aug. 11 at home.“I changed my lineup,” she said.

Moulton cross country: Harriers open with Yoakum meet

The Moulton cross-country squads started their season Saturday in Yoakum at the Bulldog Invitational.Varsity Girls (1.49 miles)The Moulton varsity girls scored 154 points to place seventh.Ava Olivarez placed No. 13 to lead the Kittens, finishing in 10 minutes, 18.

UIL mandates "heat stress" monitor

Beginning this school year, the University Interscholastic League has put into effect that a “heat stress” monitor must be used for any outdoor athletic or marching band activities.The UIL refers to this requirement as a “Heat Stress & Athletic Participation Required Plan.
