Bulldogs hold off Rice 68-64

Yoakum wrapped up second place in district with a 68-64 win over Rice Consolidated Friday at home. The Blue Raiders took a 15-9 lead in the first quarter and Yoakum came back with a 23-10 run for a 32-25 halftime lead.

Bulldogs give good effort to try to win against Rockets

San Antonio John F. Kennedy scored two goals in the final 2:53 of the first half to get past the Bulldogs 3-1 Friday night at Bulldog Stadium. “We got better defensively. Still have to work on connecting our passes,” Bulldogs head coach Dewayne Arkadie said.

Brahmas defeat alumni, 8-2

The annual Brahma Alumni game wasn’t exactly one for the ages. There were 11 walks issued and 6 batters hit by a pitch in the contest. Despite playing on the losing team, Hunter Laqua was named the game’s MVP as selected by the 16 writers who were in attendance.

Brahmas win 3rd straight

Hallettsville registered its third straight District 25-AAA victory with a 49- 38 verdict over Palacios here Friday night. The Brahmas played down to the competition and trailed 16-10 at the end of the first quarter and 24-21 at the half before a 13-7 third period put them over the hump.

Lady Brahmas earn top seed in District 25-AAA

ALTAIR – The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas had to hold off a late rally by Edna to take a 53-46 victory over the Cowgirls in the playoff for the top seed in District 25-AAA at Rice Consolidated High School Friday night.

Indians beat St. Paul, 66-61

SHINER – The game with St. Paul Thursday for the district championship was a lot closer than expected. The Indians were able to pull out a 66-53 victory over the Cardinals with some effort. The Indians had defeated the Cards, 81-53, Feb. 8 in Hallettsville.

Indianettes hold off Lady Cardinals

SHINER – Rivalry games, especially when the contest is for a TAPPS District 5 Division IV championship, can get intense and the Indianettes’ 47-46 victory over St. Paul Thursday was no exception.

Youth sports: Shiner Stars 10U win Zorn Tournament

The Shiner Stars 10U team brought home the gold for their first tournament win of the Spring season Saturday in the Zorn Tournament.
