Shiner girls basketball: Shiner girls JV win one at tournament

The Shiner Lady Comanches junior varsity basketball team went 1-2 at the Schulenburg Tournament last week. La Grange 22, Shiner 8 Shiner opened the tournament with a 22-8 loss to La Grange. Lexi Boner led the Lady Comanches with six points and Evy Johnson bagged two points.

Shiner girls basketball: Lady Comanches’ adjustments aids in win over La Grange

The Lady Comanches basketball was down 30-21 at halftime against 4A La Grange and decided to make some adjustments. They switched up the defense and focused on rebounding, and pulled in results immediately as they outscored the Lady Leopards14-3 in the third quarter and went to win the game 50-47.

Shiner football: Holland defeats Shiner 28-14 in area round

SMITHVILLE — Down 14-0 in the third quarter against Holland in the area round, Shiner rallied to tie the game. But the Hornets responded by scoring two touchdowns of their own to get past the Comanches, 28-14, Friday night at Smithville’s Tiger Field.

Tribe to meet familiar opponent

The Sacred Heart Indians open the playoffs versus Sacred Heart Muenster in the area round of the TAPPS Division IV playoffs at Robinson High School Friday night. Kickoff time is 6 o’clock. The Tigers (8-3) advanced by beating Tomball Rosehill Christian, 34-7, last week.

LB in first swim meet Saturday

VICTORIA – The Hallettsville Lady Brahma swim team competed in the first meet of the season in the Victoria ISD Veterans Day Invitational Saturday. Lauren Lundy finished second in the 50-yard freestyle in 27.25 seconds and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle in a minute and 4 seconds.

Franklin takes second win in as many years over Brahmas

WALLER – The Hallettsville Brahmas faced a difficult task for the second year in a row in the form of the Franklin Lions in the first round of the Class 3A, Division I playoffs. The Brahmas fell victim to the Lions’ running game in a 50-22 loss at Waller ISD Stadium Friday night.

Moulton boys basketball: Katz rout Faith Academy to begin season

Trent Miesetschleager scored two dozen points while Tyler Siegel added 19 and Landon Chaloupka hit a triple and recorded 13 points in the Moulton Katz’s season-opening win at Victoria Faith Academy 85-19. Moulton led 31-7 after the first frame and outscored the Cougars 24-0 in the second stanza.

Moulton girls basketball: Kittens win first two games

Abygail Tinajero scored a dozen points and hit two triples while Audrey Swinford netted 10 points in the Moulton Kitten’s 44-13 season-opener win against Snook at home on Nov. 7. The Kittens, with 11 first-quarter points and 14 points in the second box, led 25-0 at halftime.

Moulton basketball: Junior high teams beat Runge

The Moulton JH basketball teams both defeated Runge on Monday Moulton JH girls 70, Runge 9 The Moulton junior high girls overpowered Runge 70-9. Four Kittens scored in double digits points led by Sophia Vasquez who sank 20 points. Moulton led 31-6 after one frame and led 43-7 at halftime.
