The Yoakum Lady Bulldogs moved on to the area round of the Class 3A volleyball playoffs with a 3-0 (215-13, 25-10, 25-3) quick win over San Antonio Great Hearts Northern Oaks Nov. 1 at Luling.

Yoakum football: Yoakum beats Hempstead 41-6 for first district win, gets playoff spot

Yoakum cross country: Martinez runs Saturday morning at state

Gisela Martinez is scheduled to run in the  UIL state meet this Saturday at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock around 8:30 am. This will be Martinez’s fourth trip to the state meet, having been part of the Lady Bulldogs state teams in 2019, 2020 and 2021.

Yoakum football: Bulldogs finish regular season at home to Hallettsville

The Yoakum Bulldogs close out the season at home with county rival Hallettsville Brahmas. With last week’s 41-6 win over Hempstead, Yoakum has wrapped up at least fourth place and a spot in the  playoffs.

St. Paul cross country: Lady Cardinals come in third at state

The Lady Cardinals cross-country team won a Bronze medal at the state cross-country meet on Monday. St. Paul scored 79 points with Amarillo Ascension Academy coming second with 69 points and Spring Providence Classical taking the 2A title with 68 points.

Moulton cross country: Moulton teams ready for state

Both Moulton girl and boys cross-country teams will be running in the state meet this year after each finished third at regionals. The boys did come close to going to state as a team in 2021 and worked hard to get past the hump this season.

Area football: Shiner, St. Paul return from bye to close out regular season
