Shiner football: Shiner JH open with wins over Poth Pirates

The Shiner junior high football teams got their seasons started off with wins last week at home against Poth.Shiner 7th 30, Poth 8Eli Stone rushed for two touchdowns including one from 44 yards as the 7th  grade Braves won 30-8.Luke Spann and Hudson Popp each rushed for one touchdown.

Shiner volleyball: LCs hustle in four-set loss to Poth

The Lady Comanches hustled, communicated and made plays out of left field.But unfortunately the results were not on their side as visitors Poth Pirettes took a 16-25, 28-26, 25-20 and 25-11 win Friday in Shiner.Shiner took the first set by nine before Poth won by two, by five and then by 14 points.

Shiner, St. Paul volleyball: Lady Comanches win cross-town match with St. Paul 3-1

Shiner football: Comanches wreck the Pirates 41-19

The Shiner Comanches had a pretty good challenge in the visiting Poth Pirates Friday night at Comanche Stadium.As they do very regularly, Shiner accepted the challenge and rose to the occasion, beating Poth 41-19 to prevent a third-straight loss to the Pirates.

Moulton cross country:Kittens place runner up in 1A-2A varsity girls at home meet

The Moulton cross-country runners performed at home Saturday in the Moulton meet.Varsity GirlsThe Kittens placed second in the Varsity Girls 1A-2A division with 32 points.Ava Olivarez led Moulton with fifth place in 14 minutes, 18.47 seconds and a pace of 7:09. Karsyn Blahuta was seventh in 14:28.

The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas could not stand success.The LB took the Lady Bulldogs to a fifth set before succumbing 18- 24,25-17,16-25 25-20, 17- 15 here Tuesday, Sept. 2.Four serving errors in the fifth set were the Achilles Heel of the Lady Brahmas.
