Early voting has begun
Early voting started Monday and voters can cast their ballot Monday through Friday for the next two weeks.
On the ballot for this voting session includes 17 constitutional amendments as well as a ratification of ad valorem tax rate in the Hallettsville, Yoakum and Moulton Independent School Districts.
Voters can cast their ballot early at the Lavaca County elections office located at 412 N. Texana St. in Hallettsville.
Early voting hours for this week is Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and next week’s voting hours on Monday through Wednesday from 8 a.m to 5 p.m. On Thursday, Oct. 30 and Friday, Oct. 31, the elections office will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The general election is Tuesday, Nov. 4 with all 11 voting precincts open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Voters wanting to vote by mail have until Friday, Oct. 24 to submit an application for ballot by mail.
In order to vote, voters will need to present one of seven forms of identification that includes either a Texas drivers license; Texas election certificate; Texas personal ID card; Texas handgun license; U.S. citizenship w/photo; U.S. military card or a U.S. passport (book or card).
If a voter cannot present one of the seven forms of identification, they can still vote by filling out a reasonable impediment declaration and show a copy of one of the approved IDs including:
• Certified domestic birth certificate, or court admissible birth document
• Current utility bill
• Bank statement
• Government check
• Paycheck
• Government document with your name and address including your voter registration certificate
