Brahmas 11, Palacios 2
Hudson Chenard gave Hallettsville six strong innings in the Brahmas’ District 25-AAA opening 11-2 victory over Palacios here Tuesday, March 5.
Chenard held the Sharks hitless in the first five innings and at one point retired 11 batters in a row before issuing a walk to start the top of the fifth inning. Palacios scored its two runs (one earned) in the sixth inning on one hit, two bases on ball and an error
Chenard struck out eight, walked three and allowed two hits.
Jorian Wilson threw a 1-2-3 inning in the seventh with three strikeouts.
The Brahmas had 12 hits with five for extra bases. Monte Thigpen was 3-for-3 with a run scored and a double and Brock Bludau 2-for-5 with a run and two batted in.
Hallettsville scored its first two runs in the second inning. Thigpen started the frame with a single to center followed by a walk and hit batter to load the bases. Brock Bludau came through with a two-out single to score Thigpen and George walked to force in a run.
Carter Blaha tripled to score Thigpen in the third inning and scored on a sac fly by Chenard.
Preston Wagner singled to start a two-run fourth. He scored on a triple by George before Wilson drove in George with a sacrifice fly.
George’s two-run single highlighted a three run fifth inning.
