Brahmas in another rebound win
VANDERBILT – The Hallettsville Brahmas had another rebound win, more than coach Brock Gerlich would like, with a 46-35 District 25-AAA victory over Industrial Friday night.
The Cobras led 6-5 at the first break and 22- 16 at the intermission before Nathan Henke led a 17-5 third quarter with 8 points to help the Brahmas to a 33-27 lead heading down the home stretch.
Henke 5 points in the final period to keep the Cobras at arm’s length.
Henke led the Brahmas with 13 points and Jashaun Price scored 11.
The Brahmas were 7 of 13 from the free-throw line.

Woe is me! What would have been a great ending ended up a nightmare for the Brahmas in Columbus Tuesday, Jan. 30.
Camdon Pitchford’s three-pointer from an angle at the buzzer gave the Cardinals the whiteknuckled victory.
The Brahmas trailed by 21 points at the onset of the second quarter before chipping away with 18 points in the second period behind Jashaun Price’s 8 points to get the lead down to 32-25 at the half.
The Cardinals still had that 7-point advantage going into the fourth.
The Brahmas pulled even at 53-53 on a trey by Dougie Mundine. A follow shot by Nathan Henke with 1:37 to play gave Hallettsville its first lead at 55-53. Columbus’ Trevor Berger’s lay up put the Cardinals back up by two. A basket by Kason Podhajsky came with 31 seconds remaining for the last Brahma lead before Pitchford’s dagger.
Columbus students rushed the court like college kids after Pitchford’s heroics.

A three by Pitchford and baskets by Cedric Fitzgerald and Braylon Fisher gave the Cardinals a 21-point lead at the beginning of the second quarter. Price started finding his way to the basket and scored 8 points to whittle the lead to 32-25 at the half.
Price led all scorers with 14 points and made 6 of 9 shots from the field. Mundine score 11 and Podhajsky 10.
The Brahmas shot 42.0% percent from the floor and wthe Cardinals 36.6%. The Brahmas made just 2 of 8 free throws and Columbus 5 of 8.
