Brahmas have 65 in camp
The Hallettsville Brahmas had 65 players report for the first day of practice Monday evening. The number last year was 70.
“I was very pleased with the older guys who showed up in shape,” head coach Levi Montgomery said. “A good number of our kids worked hard in the summer and it showed.
“These initial practices in helmets and shorts only allow for a lot of teaching. With a change in the offensive scheme, that’s beneficial for us because of the amount of teaching that needs to be done,” Montgomery added.
The Brahmas will go out in pads for the first time Friday.
Noticeably missing from the practice was Jorian Wilson who committed to Texas A&M to play baseball.
The Brahmas’ first scrimmage is at home against Marion Friday, Aug. 16.
Hallettsville opens the season at Shiner Aug. 30.
