    The Hallettsville Brahmas host Marion in the first scrimmage here Friday beginning with the JV starting at 5:00.

    Marion picked third in District 13-AAA Division I, which also houses University City Randolph, Llano, Ingram Moore, Luling and Florence.

    The Bulldogs’ strength will be defense where eight starters return with linebacker Hadley Mote leading the group. Mote has 145 tackles last fall.

    Four starters had to be replaced in the offensive line, but Garrett Mann (6-3, 265) returns.

    “We are excited to be where we are,” head coach Levi Montgomery said. “We are going run some option this year with Mycole Pegoda at quarterback and the team has confidence in him.”

    Montgomery has some spots to fill in the backfield after the graduation of Jashaun Price and Damarion Austin. Gage Norris and Tradyn Williams head the list.
