Brahmas lose in final seconds, 26-19

BEEVILLE – For the second time this season, the Hallettsville Brahmas out-gained an opponent and lost.

Beeville Jones scored with eight second remaining to take a 26-19 victory Friday night.

The Brahmas had 444 yards of offense - 418 on the ground and 26 through the air. The Trojans rushed for 139 yards and passed for 221 for a total of 360 yards.

“Certainly disappointed that we were unable to come away with the victory in Beeville,” Brahma head coach Levi Montgomery said. “Kids played hard enough to win. When you rush for 418 yards like we did, you expect to win the football game. We, though, were unable to get it done down the stretch on either side of the ball.

“Defensively we gave up too many big plays. Credit Beeville and their program for making the plays in the end when we didn’t.” Montgomery added.

The Brahmas had scoring drives of 68, 99 and 73 yards.

Quarterback Mycole Pegoda accounted for 228 yards with 204 yards rushing on 21 carries and 24 yards through the air. He scored all three touchdowns.

Halfback Tradyn Williams also had a big game with 117 yards rushing on 21 attempts.

Pegoda scored after a 68- yard drive that took only three plays, running 56 yards for the score. The PAT attempt was no good.

The Brahmas’ next touchdown came after a 99-yard drive that took 16 plays. Pegoda scored from 17 yards out.

The final score came when Pegoda went 19 yards for the touchdown. The drive covered 73 yards and took eight plays.

Both teams are 2-3 on the season.
