“I was pleased with the way our kids came out and dominated from the opening kick,” head coach Levi Montgomery said. “With Jonathon being back, and the fanfare that came with his jersey retirement, we wanted our kids to ensure that they took care of business on the field which they certainly did.”

Halfback Jashaun Price scored four touchdowns on runs of 16, 8, and 57 yards and ended up with 98 yards on only 6 carries.

The Brahmas (6-2, 1-1) amassed 399 yards of total offense – 274 rushing and 165 passing and the clock ran continuously in the second half.

The Brahmas held the Bobcats to just 35 yards and 4 first downs while the Brahmas moved the chains 15 times. The only downside was penalties, 6 for 60 yards.

Jorian Wilson threw for 165 yards including a 42-yard touchdown pass to split end Layne Gerke. The junior quarterback was a perfect 6-for-6.

Gerke caught 4 balls for 121 yards and Rashaun Sidney 2 for 44 yards.

The Brahmas scored at the 7:11 mark of the first period following a 36-yard, 5-play drive.

Mycole Pegoda gained 18 yards prior to Price scoring on an 8-yard run. Ty Tomek kicked the first of his 5 extra points.

Hallettsville journeyed 65 yards in only two plays for its second touchdown.

Wilson to Gerke worked for 63 yards to the Hempstead 8 to put the Brahmas on the doorstep. Price scored on the next play to up the score to 14-0.

Also in the second quarter, Price fled 57 yards for a touchdown. On a little bit of trickery, Gerke passed to lineman Zach Henke for the twopoint conversion and a 22-0 score

The Brahmas put together a 7-play, 81-yard drive in the second quarter capped by a 5-yard run by Price. A 43-yard Wilson-to-Sidney worked for 43 yards to the Bobcat 17.

With 4:41 left in the first half, Wilson tossed to Gerke for 47 yards and the touchdown to increase the score to 36-0 at the intermission.

Halfback Tradyn Williams scored on a 28-yard run for the final score of the night.

The Brahmas faced third down only five times in the game.

The Brahmas’ bye week is welcome. “The open week will allow us an opportunity to help get some guys healed up from the typical punishment that it takes. There is no question that kids get banged up, that’s just part of it, Montgomery said.”

Price had gained 877 yards and averages 7.9 yards per carry. Ditto for QB Jorian Wilson. Wilson has completed 60 of 98 (61.2%) attempts for 988 yards and 7 touchdowns with 2 picks … The Brahmas have intercepted 9 passes on the season and have recovered 8 fumbles. Gerke and Sidney have 2 picks apiece … Sidney is averaging 21.6 yards per reception and Gerke 16.9. Gerke has 30 catches for 506 yards and Sidney 16 for 345.
