Brahmas take N-S in 2 straight

CUERO – A No. 1 seed versus a No. 4 seed usually means trouble for the latter.

The Hallettsville swept its two-game series with Nixon-Smiley, 8-0 and 12-1 in a 3A bi-district series.

Brock Bludau (3-1) pitched a gem in the first game with a one-hitter that included 11 strikeouts. Bludau overcame a rocky start in the first inning when he walked two and hit a batter, but went on to retire 19 of the next 20 batters he faced.

The Brahmas scored twice in the second and third innings with the help of 6 Mustang errors

In the second frame, Tanner Wagner walked with one out and scored on Tanner Cliffe’s infield hit.

The third inning began with Brandt Trlicek dumping a single into left field. Jorian Wilson walked and Trlicek scored on a sacrifice fly by Monte Thigpen, the first of two he had in the game

With one out, Wagner was safe on an error and scored when Andrew George reached on another miscue in the third inning.

The two runs in the third inning came on Thigpen’s second sacrifice fly and an error

Three more runs scored in the fourth inning, two on a double by Trlicek and Thigpen’s second sac fly

Thigpen doubled to lead off the 6th and came around on Wagner’s infield out.

Trlicek was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and a run. Brahmas 12, N-S 1

The Brahmas amassed 12 hits to win Game 2, 12-1

Jorian Wilson ran his record to 3-0 with five strong innings. Wilson gave up one hit, one unearned run, walked 3 and fanned 7.

Tanner Cliff threw the final two innings and surrendered a hit, walk and struck out three.

The Brahmas scored in the top of the 1st when Brock Bludau was safe on an error and scored on the front end of a double

Rare feat

A hole-in-one on No. 7 at Hallettsville’s Municipal Golf Course is very, very rare. However, Aaron Machac and Rudy Estrada accomplished the feat with a hole-in-one on the same day Tuesday, April 18

Tanner Wagner led off the 2nd with a base hit and came across on a sacrifice fly by Bludau

The Brahmas made it 5-0 with a three-run 4th. Andrew George doubled at the onset and was driåven in on Josh Griffin’s single. Bludau’s base hit plated Griffin and Bludau came around on a double by Wilson.

A double by Griffin in the 5th scored a run.

The Brahmas scored three runs in both the 6th and 7th inning.

Crater Blaha hit a tworun double in the 6th and an infield out by Wagner scored the other.

Thigpen drove in two runs in the 7th with a single.

Wilson, Thigpin , George and Griffin had two hits apiece
